Is Your DIY Camera System Missing This Key Function?

Read Now

Picture
With the rise of DIY camera systems on the market many home and business owners are taking advantage of the benefits of having a camera be their "eyes" on their property when they are away. It is a great function to have the ability to see what is always happening via a phone, PC, or tablet however, the reality is you cannot be watching your cameras 24/7. What most homeowners and businesses do not realize is that a camera system is only ONE step in defending your property.
What most DIY systems do not offer you…
  • A security system to back up a camera system
  • 24/7 monitoring in order to connect with local fire and police departments should an emergency arise
  • Quality cameras featuring a high definition that is good enough to see the face to pin an intruder
DIY systems on the market today can offer you quick and cheap systems yet lack the ability to offer you enough safety for your family or business.

Although a camera system is important and usually the first option a homeowner or business chooses to protect their property, cameras are only ONE step in defense. To get the best result from your cameras it is important to integrate a robust security system that is also monitored monthly 24/7.

Wired Out Cabling & Security offers clients a camera + security system that is integrated into one APP that is monitored by central station. How is this done? The moment an emergency arises whether it be an intruder breaking in, a fire starting, water leaks + flooding, etc. an alarm is triggered. The control panel in the home or business will instantly connect to expert security alarm monitoring services and send you an alert on your smart device. Our alarm monitoring partner security experts receive the signal notify you immediately for you to approve for dispatch to be notified or called off.

An emergency can all happen quickly. Having a layered defense approach to securing your home or business property has much more value by applying these functions: cameras + security + monitoring. In result, it will give you a quick response to anything that may occur at your home or business.

So, when it comes to protecting your property keep in mind the following things:
1. A camera system is only ONE step in securing your home or business
2.Use a reputable company that not only offers quality cameras but can also offer you a security system and 24/7 monitoring.

Why your Smoke Alarm is not enough for Fire Protection

Read Now

In lieu of #fireprevention week lets discuss why your smoke alarm isn’t enough when it comes to fire protection for your home. When considering alarms for fire protection, it’s important to identify the difference between a smoke alarm and a monitored smoke detector.

A smoke alarm (120-volt) you can pick up at any local
improvement store when you move into a home. How it works: the alarm will go off at the presence of smoke and if it is tripped, it will alert you that there is smoke in the home and will continue to go off until turned off by you. If a fire is present, it is also your responsibility to call the fire department (911).

Another point to remember is that should the power go out, the life of the alarm is determined solely by the battery. If that battery is faulty, it will not work. If the detector has lost most of its power, there is no telling how long the battery will last. In most cases, homeowners forget to test their batteries occasionally and change them as needed. This can be a major problem in your home’s fire protection.

Relying on a 120 volt- smoke alarm has another major disadvantage and that is that it is not supervised (monitored). The smoke alarm cannot identify where the location of the smoke or fire is and where it was activated for detection. Should a fire arise, all it will do is give you an alert – the fire department will not be called.
Picture
Why a monitored smoke detector is the right way to go for fire protection for your home…

Having a monitored smoke detector has an advantage that the normal smoke alarm 120-volt does not, and that is that the monitored fire and smoke detector is connected to your alarm system with Wired Out Cabling & Security and by our monitoring partner Rapid Response (central station). Should smoke be detected or a fire, a signal is sent instantly to you via your smartphone app and you have the ability to notify central station to call for the local fire department. Another plus is that the monitored smoke detector can send you a signal indicating that either your detector is functioning on a back-up battery or that its lost its power. The advantage: Monitored smoke detectors are connected to your security alarm system later to enhance fire protection.

A monitored smoke detector gives you the security in knowing that central station knows instantly that an alarm has been triggered and exactly the location of the fire, for instance. As the monitoring company, Wired Out Cabling & Security can provide proper and accurate information to the fire department when dispatching them to your home. This can help save your home and your valued belongings.

Increase in false smoke alarms vs. a monitored smoke detectors

Often times smoke alarms (120volt) are tripped, this could be because of it’s placement close to the kitchen when something is burning on the stove or even extra smoke from cooking in the air. In most cases homeowners will disengage the alarm forgetting to put it back on and if something should happen, well then, the alert will not go off.

With a professional smoke detector installed by Wired Out Cabling & Security the detector would be monitored by a professional company and should a false alarm happen, you can easily release the alert. Wired Out can also advise you on the best placements for your smoke detector alarms. Sometimes a heat detector is a better resource to use.

Want to learn more about monitored smoke detectors?

Keep your home and family safe with a fire alarm don't take a chance with not being covered properly by your home’s fire protection. Wired Out Cabling and Security can work with you on creating the best plan for your home.

If you have smoke alarms that are three to five years old, you may want to consider replacing them. If they are more than 10 years old, then it is time to replace those detectors with something up to date. Consider adding monitored smoke detectors and/or heat detectors to your alarm security system.

If you have any questions about your smoke detectors or need recommendations, don’t hesitate to give us a call at 518-629-5025 for a free consultation and quote!

The Benefits of an Organized Network Cable + IT ROOM

Read Now

Most businesses look tidy and clean until…you walk into their network IT data room. Then the fun begins.

At Wired Out Cabling & Security, we have seen a lot when it comes to a business’ IT room. Messy wires, cables intertwined and tangled with each other stretched into the network racks and data servers, and limited mobility. An IT room or wiring closet in this type of condition can do so much harm for a business. It makes it difficult to install new hardware, set up new employee workstations, or even troubleshoot existing hardware and network issues.

WHY should this be a concern for a business? An unorganized IT data room can cause issues such as:
  • Network downtime
  • Machines and hardware start to lose performance efficiency
  • Data loss will become a problem and a recurrence

For any business within any industry there are many benefits to keeping cables neat and organized within an IT data room/closet. If your cabling is structured, organized, and properly mapped then your business can run efficient.

At Wired Out Cabling & Security we take pride in keeping our projects organized and tidy. We come in and create a manageable system that will provide a business with technology that works for them.
  • Organize, Test, & Label Wiring & Cable

Choosing Local vs. National Brand vs. DIY

Read Now

Picture
Choosing a home or business security company may be confusing with many options out there these days. You have your big nationally known companies offering major discounts yet hidden long terms and contracts and then you have the DIY systems now hitting the market “do it all on your own" yet leaves a lot of "holes" in the service and monitoring side of things.

Although it may be enticing to choose a security alarm company such as one of these, there are a multitude of advantages and reasons why hiring a local security company can benefit you greatly.

The first reason is that your national big box brand and DIY security companies cannot offer you the high-quality service and guarantee us local security professionals can provide. Wired Out Cabling and Security can offer quick response rates and service with our team of professionals whether it be for a consultation, install, or service call.

Second, local companies such as Wired Out Cabling and Security prides itself in its reputation to providing excellent service. As an A+ rated Better Business Bureau (BBB) certified recognized company referrals and word of mouth go much farther for us vs. the big marketing budgets most national big box brands have to work with.  By having a high rating with BBB.org or 5-Star Google Reviews means the world to us.  It shows potential customers the work we do and how well we do it. Being local also gives us the opportunity to create better one on one relationships with customers vs. big brands. Having the upper edge in being located within the same communities as our customers, we care tremendously about the people and businesses we serve.

Finally, knowledge and experience within our industry is our priority. Unlike big box brands who may have a multitude of random services they provide we offer services specifically dedicated to the security industry with a strong focus on having the latest technology and products. For big box brands or corporate it is easy for a customer's call to get bumped from one department to another, leaving you frustrated and displeased with the service.  When you work with a well focused security company like Wired Out a customer can easily get the questions answered and have a direct number to an actual person. “You are a person, not a number.”

These are just a few of the many advantages working with a local security company, but they are important. Even though a larger company might be more well-known, or offer you the chance to bundle your services, consider giving your business to a local service. We are customer service-oriented, we provide quick responses, and we offer focused services with cutting edge technologies and support.

To learn more on how a local security system company can benefit you much more than a big box or DIY company give us a call at 518.629.5025
